What are the benefits of reading books?

Right now we are gonna talk about an important habit in our lives. Are you curious, what it is ?… (let me hear you whispering about the answer)… Yes, that’s right, “reading books”. Reading books is an activity which would bring a lot of changes in our lives. Why? Here are the reasons, according to the Academic Associates Prince George and Inspiration Boost:

Reading is important because it develops the mind.

The mind is like muscle. It needs exercise. Understanding the written word is one way the mind grows in its ability. Teaching young children to read helps them develop their language skills. It also helps them learn to listen. Everybody wants to talk, but few can really listen. Lack of listening skills can result in major misunderstandings which can lead to job loss, marriage breakup, and other disasters – small and great. Reading helps children and adults focus on what someone else is communicating.

Why is reading important? It is how we discover new things.

Books, magazines and even the Internet are great learning tools which require the ability to read and understand the text. A person who knows how to read can educate themselves in any area of life they are interested in. We live in an age where we are overloaded with information, but reading is the main way to take advantage of it.

Reading develops the imagination.

TV and computer games have their places, but they are more like amusement. Amusement comes from two words “a” [non] and “muse” [think]. Amusement is non-thinking activities. With reading, a person can go anywhere in the world…or even out of it! They can be kings, adventurers, or princesses, or… The possibilities are endless. Non-readers never experience this kind of joy.

Self Improvement

Reading does help form a better you, doesn’t it?  Through reading, you begin to understand more about the world, including the topics that interest you, for example: how to build self-confidence, how to make better plans before taking actions, how to memorize things better and more. All of these self-improvements are started from reading, because when you are reading, you are creating a structured path towards a better understanding and eventually better decisions.

Gain Experience from Other People.

When you are reading, you are actually gaining the knowledge and experience of someone. It can hasten your success towards a goal, as you don’t need to repeat the same mistake while focusing on the right path in achieving one thing. It’s like a mountain of gems for you to discover in books, which contain people’s successes, failures and advice. Life is too short for you to keep repeating the mistakes that had been done by other people. There are more than four thousand billionaires and 12 million millionaires today. To become one of them, the first thing is to learn and get to know their past, what they did in the past that makes them where they are today. Reading is a great path to get to know them, and learn from these great people.

“A day Without the book is a day wasted.”

Can you see the benefits of reading books in the text above? It doesn’t cover them all. A lot of benefits that I didn’t include in the text above. So, if you want to a better person, let’s change your habbit first and start reading at least 1 book/week. Feel the calmness and notice your life changes for the better of when you start reading.
